I work best with clients who are not only wanting to resolve their issues, but who also have some abiding interest in inner exploration and self-discovery. In my experience, if we only approach therapy with the mindset of needing to fix, therapy can become heavy and mechanical. Even if we are working with difficult subjects, therapy is meant to engage a part of us that loves to know the truth about ourselves. When this happens, it is as though a flame lights up in us, which fuels our passion for self-inquiry. Then, therapy becomes more like an adventure, which can be very enjoyable, meaningful, and expansive. I honor and respect the process of mental health diagnosis, but relying too much on this way of thinking can take the meaning away from our experience, which is what should activate our interest in self-inquiry. Whatever we're experiencing is full of meaning and not random. We're complex and full of depth. We deserve to give ourselves very close attention. This process of giving our full attention to ourselves is love, and a loving act. You deserve to give that kind of care to yourself. Accepting NEW clients. My choice to pursue this work is a reflection of my deepest passion in life: creating safety within the emotional complexity that is being human. I have come to find that one of life's biggest challenges is finding permission to be authentically ourSelves without fear of judgement, whether that be external or internal. It has long been a quest of mine to discover what it is that holds us back from granting ourselves the ability to step into our the highest and most honest version of ourSelves and recognizing the beliefs we have to undo on the way. I believe that often the suffering that people describe is born from an unwillingness to be present in the moment or to experience the truth of their experience. The truth can make us feel anxious all of the time, make our moods difficult to tolerate, or make us feel uncomfortable during everyday life circumstances. A common cause of such suffering often originates from our own interpretations about the experiences in our lives. Using a combination of mindfulness (a non-judgmental state of awareness) and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), I work with clients to help observe, acknowledge, and even learn to tolerate these feelings and sensations. My personal and professional style is goal oriented, which translates to working in a time-limited fashion. We work collaboratively to create a set of workable goals and each session is geared toward actualizing those goals.

The difference between a glass half empty and one half full is a matter of shifting perspective. Sounds simple, but years of trauma, habitual behaviors, and thinking patterns can train our brains to see only what we expect to see. Research has shown that these brain patterns can be shifted at any time in life. New brain based therapies such as brainspotting make this process more accessible, creating shifts in your feeling and thinking states that lead to more balance and emotional well-being. Learning to recognize and listen to your body's innate intelligence is the first step. Facing our issues takes learning to be compassionate with ourselves.
